Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor under consideration in another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • In the event of article acceptance, all copyright ownership will be transferred and assigned to Penerbit UTM Press.
  • The main submission file is in Microsoft Word 97-2003 (*.doc) or higher document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and formatting requirements outlined in the Journal Template.
  • The article is written in English using the template dimension with a single-spacing; uses 9-point Arial font for the body text; and employs italics, rather than underlining (except for URL addresses).
  • The article should be no more than 10 pages in length inclusive of tables, figures and illustrations where all illustrations, figures, and tables are positioned within the text at the appropriate points without leaving wide blank space.
  • Where available, URLs for the references must be provided. DOI for the references must be given if applicable.
  • The article is free from any statement on the Authors' background and affiliation within the main body, in complying the double-blind review concept of the journal.
  • Two articles are uploaded during the submission. Manuscript with author's details; manuscript without author's details (no author's name and affiliation).
  • A short cover letter is attached as a Supplementary File, together with a suggestion of three (3) potential reviewers.

General

The article must be an original work that has not been published or under consideration in another publication elsewhere. The journal welcomes a submission, written in English, using the template dimension with a single-spacing, uses 10-point Arial font for the body text, and should be no more than 10 pages in length inclusive of tables, figures and illustrations. Submission of an abstract video is optional to provide a clear overview to the readers and to enhance research visibility. All submissions will be double-blind peer reviewed.

Types of Paper

  • Research Article: Research article presents an original research with major advancement and contribution to the body of knowledge or the particular area. Research article must follow the format provided in the Author Guidelines. The main content includes an abstract, keywords, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusion, acknowledgement, conflict of interest and references. The supplementary materials that support the paper's conclusions are welcomed.
  • Review Article: Review article summarises and describes new development of interdisciplinary significance as well as proposing new future research directions. Review article should consists of an abstract, introduction that outlines the main theme, subheadings, future direction for resolving research questions, conclusion, acknowledgement, conflict of interest and references.

Title

The article should be headed by a concise and informative title. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.

Author Names and Affiliations

Please include the full name(s) of the author(s) and complete affiliations. In case of multiple authorship, please indicate the corresponding author to whom the article should be directed.

Abstract

The article must be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 250 words. The abstract should not only indicate the subject and scope of the article but also summarize the author’s conclusion along with a maximum of five (5) keywords that could be useful for information-retrieval purposes. A good abstract should consists of introduction, aim, overall results and general conclusion. It must be stand alone with no cited reference.

Text body

The article should be constructed following these sections: 1. Introduction, 2. Materials and Methods, 3. Results and Discussion, 4. Conclusion. Each section and sub-section must be numbered using the Arabic numerals. Please adopt SI Units for all scientific and laboratory data. Use a consistent British or American English spelling throughout the article.

Figure, table or footnote should be placed within the text where it is stated. Footnote should be avoided if possible; where it is used, it should be numbered consecutively with superscript Arabic numerals. Download our Journal Template for the article preparation.

Tables

All tables must be kept simple, clear, numbered with Arabic numerals and should be referred in the text. Every table should has a caption. Headings should be placed above each table, left justified and use 8-points Arial font. Use only horizontal lines within a table, to distinguish the column headings and the body of the table, and immediately above and below the table. All tables must be embedded in the text and not supplied separately.

Figures / Illustrations

Illustrations including figures, diagrams and graphs should be sharp, noise free and of good contrast. It should accompany the article and numbered consecutively in the same order as it is referred in the text. Headings should be placed below each table, left justified and use 8-points Arial font. Line drawings and lettering size must be large enough to permit legible reduction whenever necessary. 

 Mathematical Notation and Equations

All equations must be clearly typed and should be identified or numbered accordingly in Arabic numerals.

Acknowledgment

A brief acknowledgment of not more than 50 words can be included at the end of the article, before the list of references.

Conflict of Interest

Any conflict of interest between the authors or/and with other party should be declared accordingly.

References

References should appear in a separate Reference section at the end of the article, using numerals in round bracket.

Suggestion of three potential reviewers (minimum PhD level or Master level with field of expert)  with their official affiliation and email are a must.
